The objective of the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals Regulation (REACH) is to reduce risks to human health and the environment from the use of chemicals. REACH includes key obligations for economic operators including substance registration, compliance with substance restrictions, communication of the presence of substances of very high concern (SVHC) in products and rules for the compilation of safety data sheets. REACH applies in both GB and the EU. Under the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018, the EU REACH Regulation was brought into GB law on 1 January 2021 and is known as GB REACH.
