As part of the consumer rights obligations of the original Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition (ECGT), on the 25 September the European Commission adopted the Implementing Regulation establishing the harmonised notice on legal guarantee of conformity and the harmonised label for commercial guarantee of durability.
- A harmonised EU notice on legal guarantee to be prominently displayed at ‘shop level’ at all points of sale to raise consumers’ awareness about their rights
- A harmonised EU label for commercial guarantee of durability to help consumers choose products with longer lifespans. It will be displayed at ‘product level’ when producers offer such guarantees at no additional cost, which cover the entire good and last for more than 2 years.
Both label and notice shall meet the design and content format in the Annex of the Directive, while additional information can be made available through the integrated QR code.
The Implementing Directive shall apply as of 27 September 2026.
